A month ago Ty reached out to plan the perfect surprise proposal to Tay. As we talked, I learned that Tay’s mom and grandma (from here on out, referred to as “Meme”) are super important to her. When they talked in the past about proposals, she always mentioned the same thing…their families MUST be there. And that’s when the planning began.

I don’t mention this often, but I’ve had the honor of helping plan many proposals. Each proposal is tailored to the couple, but there are some elements that are always mentioned, namely it’s “a surprise!” The key is how to go about this surprise in a way that doesn’t tip anyone off. For Ty, the rouse was family photos. Taylor & Ty’s families come visit Oahu about once a year and it’s not out of the realm to have family photos scheduled. But here’s the thing, we roped Tay’s MOM and Meme into it! They told her we were doing family photos during everyone’s stay at Ko’olina. Haha! Let the outfit planning commence!

Ty and Carole (Tay’s mom) and I were all outfit planning like crazy based off of the dress that she told a mutual friend that she wanted to be wearing the moment he proposed. We made sure everyone’s outfit coordinated with that dress. They even went shopping for a new shirt for Ty to go with it. Things were going so smoothly, until the forecast called for 100% rain all day. That’s when things got a bit dicey. You see, we had exactly two days to make this happen. The families were only going to be all together for two days so it HAD to be Sunday. I reassured Ty that no matter what, the proposal was going to be perfect and the photos would be most epic if it was a little overcast and would bring out the colors of the lagoon we were using. It was going to be perfect.
