It’s not often I get to do an Aulani mini session because so many of my families choose to travel to a more remote part of the island. But my oh my, am I glad we chose this spot for the sweet Lorenzten family of 5. The lagoon with it’s teal waters, the palm trees, the beautiful glow from the setting sunset. The surprise appearance by the monkseal, well that was the icing on top.
When Jen reached out to me in January to start planning their session, I knew it was going to be so much fun. As a boy mom myself, I find so much joy in photographing little boys. Do not get me wrong, girls are sooo fun and I love the outfits and girliness, but there’s just an ease to hanging around and photographing boys. Let me tell you, they stole my heart. Their whole mini session went by so fast because of how much fun we had. Not only were they rock stars in front of the camera, but they got to tell mom & dad what to do behind the camera and took some pretty awesome photos themselves!
If you’re staying in Ko’olina, don’t hesitate to ask for your mini session to take place at Aulani. It’s a location that is beautiful, doesn’t typically require driving, and is easy for you to access on foot. I’ve had the pleasure of capturing proposals, families, and seniors here. While we occasionally have to avoid crowds, you have to trust the process, because the magic we create is so worth it!
Now, let’s take a look at some of my favorite images we captured during this family’s mini session! Ps – leave a comment if you think you can spot the three images that were taken by the kids!
