Some wedding venues just have that magic—you know, the kind where you step onto the grounds and instantly understand why couples choose it. Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute is exactly that kind of place. With oceanfront views, swaying palm trees, and lush tropical greenery, it’s a little slice of paradise tucked away on Oahu’s western shore. For Beth and Vincent, this was more than just a stunning backdrop—it was the perfect place to celebrate an intimate wedding at Lanikuhonua, surrounded by the people who mattered most.
A Love Story Rooted in Faith and Fairways
Beth and Vincent’s story started like so many modern romances—online. But what really brought them together? Golf and their shared love for God. He’s a Chaplain in the Army, she’s a Ph.D. powerhouse who worked for the USO, and together, they created a relationship built on faith, laughter, and plenty of time on the greens.
Their wedding day was years in the making, and let me tell you—their friends and family were beyond ready to celebrate. But before we get to the big day, we have to talk about one of the most unexpected and perfect twists of Beth’s wedding journey—her dress.
The Wedding Gown That Found Her
Originally, Beth had a completely different gown in mind, but when unexpected alteration delays threw a wrench in her plans, she turned to a fellow military spouse who was selling her wedding dress. What happened next was pure kismet. Not only did the classic ballgown fit Beth perfectly—without needing alterations—but during their conversation, she found out that this same woman was a hair and makeup artist with Perfectly Made.
So, just like that, Beth not only found her dress but also her HMUA—because sometimes, fate just works in the most incredible ways.
A Ceremony Steeped in Tradition
The day began at Saint Anthony’s in Kailua, where Beth and Vincent said “I do” in a ceremony that was just as meaningful as their love story. With Beth’s Catholic faith and Vincent’s Protestant background, they blended their traditions beautifully—a testament to their shared commitment.
And when it was time to make their grand exit? Vincent and his military friends lined up for a saber arch, raising their swords as the newlyweds walked through. A literal chef’s kiss moment for any military wedding.
A Reception Full of Love, Music & Ocean Breezes at Their Intimate Wedding at Lanikuhonua
After the ceremony, the celebration continued with an intimate wedding reception at Lanikuhonua, where palm trees swayed in the breeze and the Pacific stretched endlessly beyond. This venue was more than just a pretty backdrop—it was the perfect place to bring their vision to life. The space was transformed into a lush tropical escape, decorated in their signature palette of pink, white, and green, inspired by Hawaii’s vibrant florals.
The day started with a light winter rain shower (good luck, of course), followed by a wind advisory (which, honestly, just made for epic flying veil portraits). But the real energy came from the live band, playing everything from Elvis classics to dance-floor favorites.
And speaking of Elvis, Beth and Vincent’s first dance was to “Can’t Help Falling in Love”—because is there really a better song for a couple whose love story feels meant to be?
Even Vincent, who started the day as a “do we really need more photos?” kind of guy, found himself totally into portraits by the time dinner was over. Watching him go from skeptical to fully committed was so fun to see—and made for some of my favorite shots of the night.
A Love That Was Worth the Wait
Beth and Vincent’s intimate wedding at Lanikuhonua was a reminder that love doesn’t follow a timeline—it shows up when the timing is just right. And when it does? You celebrate with a live band, dance to Elvis, and let the wind do its thing with your veil.
It was a wedding full of love, faith, music, and laughter—and an honor to capture every moment.
