So, you’re planning a trip and wondering what things to do in Napa—whether it’s for a wedding, a romantic getaway, or just some time to unwind, I’ve got you covered! Of course, the wine is legendary, but there’s so much more to Napa than just sipping cabernet all day (though no judgment if that’s your vibe!). Let me walk you through my favorite things to do and see while you’re here. Trust me, there’s something for everyone.

1. Sip Your Way Through World-Class Wine Tastings

Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way first—wine! You can’t come to Napa without diving into some of the best wines in the world. Whether you’re a serious connoisseur or just enjoy a good glass of vino, you’re going to love it here. Some of my personal favorite stops? Sterling Vineyards, best known for their cabernet and (my favorite part) views of epic portion from their very own ski lift. Etude for their pinot noir, Castello di Amorosa for a literal medieval castle experience, and of course, the Caves at Soda Canyon if you’re in the mood to treat yourself to something extra special. Just make sure to book your tastings in advance—things can fill up fast!

2. Soar Above the Vineyards in a Hot Air Balloon

Ready for some serious wow-factor? You have to try a hot air balloon ride while you’re in Napa. I’m telling you, there’s nothing quite like floating over the vineyards at sunrise. It’s peaceful, it’s beautiful, and it gives you the kind of view that makes you realize just how magical this place really is. Companies like Napa Valley Balloons, Inc. offer these early morning flights, and they’ll even top off the experience with a champagne toast when you land. A perfect start to your day!

3. Capture Your Napa Valley Memories with a Photoshoot

While you’re in Napa soaking in all the incredible sights, why not make the memories last with a personalized photoshoot with Kristen Campbell Photography? Whether you’re celebrating an engagement, babymoon, anniversary, or just want to capture some dreamy moments in the vineyards, Napa is the perfect backdrop. Imagine the golden hour lighting over the rolling hills, or a fun and romantic shot amongst the vineyards —your photos will be as timeless as the wine.

4. Live Music at BottleRock Festival

If you’re into live music (and good vibes all around), plan your trip during BottleRock Napa Valley in May. It’s like a dream come true—top artists, amazing food, and of course, plenty of wine. Picture it: You’re listening to your favorite band while sipping on Napa’s finest, and you’ve got gourmet bites from some of the best local chefs. What could be better? Just make sure to book your accommodations early—this festival draws big crowds, and places fill up fast.

5. Stroll Along the Riverwalk in Downtown Napa

One of my personal favorite things to do in Napa, especially if you’re in the mood for something a little more low-key, take a stroll along the Napa Riverwalk downtown. It’s a beautiful spot to relax, soak in the views, and maybe pop into some of the cute little shops along the way. Feeling hungry? Swing by Oxbow Public Market for local goodies and grab a bite at one of the restaurants nearby. Personally, I can never resist Cole’s Chophouse—it’s right on the water and the perfect spot for a relaxing meal.

6. Ride the Napa Valley Wine Train

Looking for a more unique way to experience Napa’s wine country? Hop aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train. Not only do you get to enjoy gourmet meals while you ride through the valley, but you’ll also stop at some incredible wineries along the way. It’s like hitting pause on the modern world for a few hours and being transported to a slower, more elegant time. Honestly, what’s better than sipping wine while cruising through the vineyards?

7. Pamper Yourself in Calistoga’s Hot Springs and Spas

After all that wine tasting, you deserve a little pampering, right? Head over to Calistoga, where the natural hot springs are calling your name. Treat yourself to a mud bath (trust me, it’s amazing) or a relaxing massage at places like Indian Springs Resort or Solage, an Auberge Resort. It’s the perfect way to unwind, especially if you’re here for a wedding or a special celebration. Bonus: Not only is their breakfast amazing, some spas even offer wine-infused treatments, so Napa’s wine magic doesn’t have to stop!

8. Hike Through Skyline Wilderness Park

When you need to stretch your legs and soak up some fresh air, Skyline Wilderness Park is the place to be. It’s got miles of hiking trails, and the views are just incredible. Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll or a more challenging hike, there’s something for everyone. If you’ve got some extra time, pack a picnic and make a day of it. The quiet and beauty of the park is the perfect contrast to Napa’s more bustling areas.

9. Explore Art and Culture at the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art

If you’re someone who loves discovering local art and culture, you’ll definitely want to check out the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art. It’s not your average art museum—it’s a huge space full of Northern California art, both inside and outside. There’s something really special about wandering through a vineyard and coming across amazing sculptures and installations. Definitely worth a stop if you’re craving a little artistic inspiration.

10. Enjoy Farm-to-Table Dining at Napa’s Best Restaurants

Now, we can’t talk about Napa without mentioning the food. This place is a foodie’s dream! There are so many great spots to eat, but I’m all about the farm-to-table experience that Napa does so well. Places like The French Laundry (if you’re feeling fancy) or Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch (for a more laid-back vibe) are absolute musts. Fresh ingredients, creative dishes, and, of course, perfectly paired wines—what’s not to love?

Final Thoughts on what things to do in Napa

There you have it! Napa Valley is more than just wine—it’s a place full of adventure, relaxation, culture, and, let’s be honest, delicious food and drink. Whether you’re flying high in a hot air balloon, dancing at BottleRock, or indulging in farm-to-table dining, there’s something here for everyone. Just make sure you plan ahead, especially during peak seasons and big events, to lock in your accommodations and tasting reservations. I promise, Napa won’t disappoint!
