Engagement photos at sunrise in a quiet Waikiki is the romantic setting Febe & Shigge were looking for when they contacted me about their session. Waikiki is rarely quiet. It’s one of the busiest, if not THE busiest, beach on island, so the only time I can comfortably recommend a session here just so happens to be sunrise. But boy is it worth the early wake-up call!
After their original photographer missed the session, they contacted me. With my own personal experience with a photographer no-showing, I understood their panic and was able to work around their limited, not to mention busy, schedules. It is very common that my couples are not local to the islands, and that was the case for these two, which made it that much more pressing to schedule their engagement photos before they left.
As mother nature would have it, the skies started out dark, grey, and then it poured. Normally when it rains, we use umbrellas, but it was windy, cool, and the rain was blowing in sideways. Not quite the start to your engagement photos you want, but it’s not often we get this much time to chit chat about wedding planning, occupations, and all things life.
Once the rain subsided, the light was magical. I understand that we live in Hawai’i and I know that I am spoiled rotten with mountainous backdrops with teal oceans, but it’s not often I get this kind of soft glowy light. It doesn’t hurt they came dressed in my FAVORITE colors, pastel blues and white. ? But, let’s be honest, Canela stole the show. Just look at him!! On a side note, pets are almost always welcome! I say almost because come beaches and parks here prohibit dogs, which means location will dictate whether your furry friend can tag along.
I cannot wait for your ceremony at Calvary by the Sea followed by your intimate reception at Moana Surfrider!
