I was first asked about doing their engagement session on Wednesday of last week. At that time, the forecast for Saturday was set to rain all day! You guys, we accidentally threw away my clear umbrellas when we moved cross-country back in June. I was semi-panicking knowing that I didn’t have them on hand already and didn’t have time to order any from Amazon. However, Target came to my rescue yet again with perfect clear umbrellas for us to use. So, just a side-note, if you need cute, clear umbrellas for your engagement/wedding portraits because the forecast is calling for rain, Target’s the place to go.
Anyway, I drove from Petaluma down to Lake Merritt at 7:15am and it was pouring rain, cold, and windy! If I’m being totally honest with you, I was a little worried about how their session was going to go. It seemed the weather was against us. I pulled up to Lake Merritt and it was still raining. However, I got there about 25 minutes early and had time to sit in my car, listen to some music and wait out the rain. By the time it was time to pay for parking, thank you City of Oakland, the rain had slowed down to a sprinkle! Just 10 minutes later, Christina & Basil showed up and the rain had completely stopped and it didn’t rain again until I was driving home from their session!! You guys, I swear God had stopped the rain just so that we could squeeze their session in without having to stress about the rain, and it’s one of my favorites to date! They were such great troopers even with the wind and it being so cold!

Christina & Basil met at a local bar in downtown Oakland. When I asked them about what made him ask her out, he was very blunt and said that he liked what he saw. Which is absolutely no surprise if you have met Christina. She is drop dead gorgeous and has one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen, and just wait until you see her model face!! He went on to explain that they were talking/texting back and forth for a couple of days, when he asked her out for Pizza, and the rest is history!
